Maybe its appeal is that the human characters in the movie are as likeable as the dogs. (I don't believe a dog can be as "bad" as Marley is made out to be without very stupid human action or inaction. Plus, in the book, the Grogans weren't that kind to old Marley.) It'd be hard for me not to like a movie that shows a vending machine of old shoes for dogs, too. Noticed that in the trailer for "Hotel for Dogs." Looks worth seeing.
