75 Dogs Surrendered to Frederick County Shelter
The Frederick County, Maryland, Animal Shelter is asking for our help after 75 small dogs were turned in at the shelter. The dogs are in good condition, friendly but not housebroken. The shelter, which has a “no refuse” policy, is already staggering after 34 small dogs were found abandoned and roaming a highway on February 5.
This latest group was not abandoned but was brought to the shelter by a Thurmont man seeking help. He stated that the dogs had been left with him by a friend from St. Mary’s County who asked him to watch them for a few days, then disappeared. Efforts to contact the “friend” have been fruitless so far.
Shelters as far away as Ocean City, MD and Loudon County, VA have responded by taking in some of the strays, and a number have already been placed with foster families.
If you’re interested in adoption or can provide foster care, you’re asked to call the Frederick County Animal Shelter at 301-600-1546.
