in response to the police "stalkings". it's my understanding that the police are not authorized to issue tickets to leash law offenders. only animal control has that priviledge. the police can, however, hold you there while they call animal control. they can also harrass you...apparently. frequently the police & animal control work together because animal control can not enforce police activity (i.e. having id's or ensuring you stay at the scene of the crime) and the police can not enforce the animal control laws.
i hope this makes sense...

Hah. Baltimore's men and women in blue took a bit of a turn around the lake at the Walk for the Animals today. It's funny. I usually feel good, or at least neutral, when police officers are in the vicinity. Today, I felt like either brandishing Spencer's leash (which was firmly in my hand) or saying something snotty like, "Finding any thousand-dollar violations out there, Officers?" I refrained.

Don't you already have plenty of excitement and intrigue following you around in the form of Ace? The words would make nice names for dogs, though. (I just finished reading "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" and enjoyed the ideas in the novel about naming dogs.)

Sounds like a fun and useful time in the park, and I'm glad the police officer was one of the sane ones. Seems like there'd be fewer drug deals and tricks (illegal ones) in the park if there were more people about with their free range dogs.

Seems to me any leash fine should be offset by your and Ace's good Samaritan trash cleanup patrol of city property.

What is the fine for those found littering condoms, drug baggies, beer cans or diapers, etc. ?

To secure your pants next time you forget your belt try rolling up the waist a few times.
