Again, I believe you are operating on misinformation. There has been no previous dog killing, dog beatings, or dog starvings. Now there was that one time where he actually was caught petting a dog. This is totally rumor started by those who like to sensationalize stories like these.

You want to know the real scoop? This little dog was a nipper. The dog would chase people and nip at them. There is one elderly man in the neighborhood that actually stopped talking walks in the neighborhood because of this dog. But stories like that don’t sell and they don’t create sensationalism like “FBI agent shoots chihuahua”. Why aren’t there the same headlines “Irresponsible owners allow chihuahua to harass elderly” as sensational and create such havoc?

Again, I am nothing if not for animal rights and have worked to stop cruelty to animals, but it is just as cruel to allow your dog to roam the neighborhood. I wouldn’t let my toddler roam the neighborhood, why would I let my dog? I love them both and want nothing to happen to either one.

Again, where were the owners???

robertu – you are full of it. The dog had been in his yard MANY times and HAD threatened his kids on numerous occasions. Now I am not one who would even pretend to advocate for abuse of any animal under any circumstances, however I can darn well guarantee you that I will do anything and everything within my power to protect my family!

What about the owners of the dog? Why hasn’t anyone addressed their negligence? Where were they? Were they with their dog at the time? Why was the dog out? You want a dog? Great! They are wonderful, beautiful creatures, but we as humans must accept responsibility if we own them.

You “were told” he showed no remorse? Did you talk to HIM? Get your facts straight – I DID!

I can answer those questions, bluhawkk. The dog was not in his yard. She would yap when she got out but never threatening. No leash law in neighborhood. I was told the shooter never contacted the family or showed any remorse. Apparently, this is not the first dog ‘incident’ with the shooter. This is just the first time he has been caught.

Haven, Are you a neighbor? You seem familiar with the surrounding circumstance. Any article I read is light on detail. Some questions, if you will:

Was the dog just a barker, or aggressive toward the children? A biter? Did the pelleter discuss the situation with the owner? With the proper authorities? Response from either?

How old are the children?

A dead dog indicates pellet guns can be lethal. I assume his intention was to kill the dog.

it was to scare the dog outta of his yard… something that had become a usual habit for this particular dog… and yes only being 3 or 4 lbs was at times intimidating
to his childern. 3 or 4 pound dogs or any pound dogs for that matter shouldnt be free to roam the streets even if in the neighborhood… and yup i am an animal lover… thats why i keep mine in my yard, or in my house

Ledger offered no explanation of his motivation at the hearing this week. His only other appearance was before a grand jury, the proceedings of which are private. All I could find, in reference to the question, was him being quoted as saying he must have pumped the pellet gun too many times. So maybe the intention of the FBI agent from Waco was not to kill the Chihuahua, and closer to what Anne suggests. In any event, I think we can rule out self-defense.
