This is bringing back all kinds of memories because our Molly-dog did the same thing the day after we got her. Slipped her brand-new collar and took off at warp speed. My husband ran after her, dropping the collar and leash in the process. They returned after about twenty minutes, he leading her by his very best and favorite Sunday silk tie, which he had been wearing at the time of the escape. I'm very glad he found her, because I wouldn't have wanted to miss our next fourteen years with her. But she was always a runner, and they didn't have microchips in those days.
