Unlikely Friends: Orangutan and hound

For Suryia, an orangutan, and Roscoe, a dog, it was love at first sight.

Suryia and Roscoe, a blue tick coonhound, live at The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (TIGERS) in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The pair encountered each other two years ago.

“As soon as he saw Roscoe, Suryia ran over to him and they started playing,” says Bhagavan Antle, founder of TIGERS.

The friendship between the dog and orangutan was one of the inter-species relationships recounted in “Unlikely Animal Friends,” a National Georgraphic Channel special that aired last night.
