Unlikely Friends: Lion and humans
We’ve shared the story of Christian the lion with you before, but it’s one of those of which you can’t get too much.
One of the segments featured on “Unlikely Animal Friends,” a National Geographic Channel special that aired last week, focused on the relationship between Christian and the humans that he was happy — ecstatic, even — to see again a year after they returned him to the wild.

To Eighteenpaws, Ha,ha great name.
And yes, look into the eyes. Never mind how beautiful or shabby the looks, whether purebed or mutt-ly the line.
It is the eyes.

No matter how many times I have seen the YouTubes and clips, this was just the BEST show! I laughed, I cried ( a lot!), I pulled my own dogs closer. This is what the let’s-forgive-Vick-already sect does not get: Animals trust, animals bond, animals cross amazingly different species, just for the simple pleasures to share and love and care for one another. Animals teach us important stuff every day, if we only take the time to look deeply and try to understand. Language is unnecessary; it’s all about eye contact, and knowing when the other needs a hug, and relinquishing our emotions to another warm being. Thanks for keeping these stories in the news!
