We think that's pretty much what happened to Spencer because it happens to so many Beagles who outlive their usefulness as hunting dogs. Mary, you're not only right-on about talking about your dog's origins, but I think you're part of a growing trend. It seems to me that every time we meet someone with a dog, they'll say, "Our dog is a rescue. We got him from ..." We do the same thing. Spencer's a BREW Beagle, and a mighty fine dog despite his senior status. I’m not a huge fan of the Humane Society at the moment, but that announcement struck a chord. When people ask me what kind of dog Amie is, I always say first, "She's a Humane Society dog." Maybe HSUS would like dogfighters to adopt shelter dogs to use as bait dogs? Horrible question to have to ask but since HSUS thinks Vick is SO wonderful and SO "reformed" (yeah when pigs fly) maybe this is HSUS new "agenda."
