Hello,

I think the overall timing of this bill was just "unlucky" if you will. There's an enormous amount of government spending happening right now a host of economic issues, not to mention health care.

I wrote an article on this subject in early September (http://blog.hsh.com/?p=5486) and the response has been mostly positive. We're still getting comments on it.

The support from the people is definitely there, it just came at the wrong time.

Like the blog, I'll be checking in soon, thanks,
Tim Manni

I for one do not think this bill should die of neglect. If you look at the economic multiplier effect you would begin to realize that while the sniggering reporters make light of it, what in effect this bill if passed would do would be jump start many facets of the pet industry from food purchases to - even MORE critically - veterinarian services. Currently, we are facing a veterinarian shortage in this country AND existing vets are having a desperate struggle to stay in business (not to mention getting their student loans paid) because people simply cannot afford to get much medical care for their pets. It is widely reported for example that people are having to have their pets euthanized because they cannot afford veterinary care. I think this proposed legislation needs a serious look and not the cliche-ridden hahahahaha crap that most reporters are treating it as! LOOK UNDERNEATH AT THE REAL ISSUES! The real issues are HELP FOR ANIMALS and getting this economy going again in all possible ways to do so! Good grief, Obama gave the car dealers a "bailout" (that IS what Cash for Clunkers was, in reality, even though if they called it a car dealer bailout there would have been mass public protests since everyone hates car dealers). So if we can "bail out" the smarmy slime that sells cars surely we should be able to in a roundabout way at least throw some kibble to the pet industry! THINK ABOUT IT, PEOPLE!!!!!
