The dog killed is an extremely rare species of dog and an American treasure. The dog was named “Dingo”and is a North American Dingo or Carolina dog. People like Youngerman often maim and shoot these dogs because they are too stupid to know about them and think they are strays.
Very few now exist in the wild and face extinction.

Please email the Charleston County Sherrif’s Dept. to have charges filed against Youngerman for animal cruel J. Al Cannon Jr.

I just wanted to make a comment on the above article. I don't think that the owner of the dog should be held and charged for this incident. Granted he beat the motorist that hit the dog but he was trying to get him to stop beating the already injured animal. The driver had no right beating the animal and causing it an injury that led to it's being euthanized. It was not the driver's place to take matters in his own hands. He should have let the authorities handle the situation or tried first to find the owner of the animal. The innocent ones are the ones that are now being punished in this situation and the animal ended up losing its life which probably would not have happened had the driver not so mercilessly beaten him. How can he say it was the humane thing to do? Since when is beating a dog to death with a machete humane?
