There is a really good book of stories similar to this called Paws to Protect: Dogs Saving Lives and Restoring Hope. One dog was on Saddam's police force. Americans needed a guard dog so local people captured the dog and gave it to them. He loved the Americans and protected them so well they took him home with them! We love you, Freddy.
