I am always "hooked" when you report on a news story with your unique personal style and opinion. That is true blogging! I have shared this one with several out-of-state friends today who have taken to asking me, "Just who IS this guy in Baltimore?" THANKS!

My experience over the years has been that Brussels sprouts are a chick thing. The male of the species just does not appreciate them. I haven't served a Brussels sprout in thirty-odd years of marriage. And I could envision the Beagle turning up his nose--or snout--as well.

As far as Rachel Ray goes, I think I just became a more enthusiastic fan. Anybody who can do something so nice for dogs deserves a lot of applause.

I'll see your shrill and raise you constant whining. I am deeply thankful I am not married to The Whiner aka Eeyore. I do note that many men of "a certain age" are much given to whining. Peace, quiet, humor and no violence on the tube (preferably Animal Planet lighter fare with my two fourleggeds leaning on either side on the recently vacuumed sofa) aren't just desirable things for the distaff side.

You mention prosciutto. When I was in Belgium I tasted prosciutto made there - not the same as domestic US "ham" because over there they don't have the organism that causes pork-related unpleasantness in humans. So the prosciutto was buttery, smoky, almost silky in texture and literally, along with the melon it was served with (in January, mind you) melted on the tongue.

One thing I just wouldn't have been able to share with the dogs no matter how soulful the pleading looks.
