“We’d be better off if we acted more like dogs”
In his weekly commentary on CBS’ “Face the Nation” yesterday, Bob Schieffer passed along some anonymous wisdom, well worth sharing, about what we can learn from dogs.

Y’know, ordinarily I’d be saying, “What a great piece of wisdom. So true. We have a lot to learn from our dogs.” Today, however, Spencer has peed on a basket of clean laundry. My clean laundry. A week’s worth of clean skivvies ‘n’ pj’s, not to mention jeans and clean shirts. And socks. And the frou-frou lacy blouse I wore over the holidays. The cable guy was here, and I guess we didn’t let the Beagle out quickly enough to suit. We’ve debated sending the case to the Head Beagle for disciplinary action, but there’s a problem: We think Spencer might actually be the Head Beagle. We base this on his grand-old-man attitude and the fact that neither of us has ever seen the Head Beagle when Spencer was around. This afternoon I decided to forgive him, so all is well. We should all be more forgiving. Like our dogs are.
Anne, are you sure the cable guy wasn’t the culprit?
