Abuser attaches straps to dog’s bones

Police in Mississippi are seeking the person who attached straps around a dog’s legs by making slits in his skin and wrapping them around the bone.

The Humane Society of the United States is offering $2,500 to anyone with information that leads to the abuser’s conviction.

The brown terrier dog was brought to the Humane Society of South Mississippi last Wednesday, May 4, after being found near the intersection of 34th Street and 20th Avenue in Gulfport, according to WLOX.

Photos released by Gulfport Police shows where a child restraint latch was attached to the dog’s legs after being inserted through the skin around the bone. Investigators say the latches appear to be from a child’s car seat.

The male terrier also has scratches and wounds on his face and head, legs and belly.

The dog, who had no microchip or identification, is being cared for at the Humane Society in Gulfport.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gulfport Police Department Animal Control Division at (228) 868-5959.

This is so sick. You might see pitt bulls as pets but many Americans see them as fighting dogs. This is a sport which generates money. Many Americans are despicable and will make money by any means possible. Ban the breed–for the dogs’ sake.

@Manuel… Wow. Kill off a breed for it’s own sake. That is an excellent plan. Haven’t some humans come with that plan before? For other humans? Anyway…

A dog with similar injuries was found up here in Baltimore not that long ago. It did not make the news, but was posted around on Facebook, which is how I came across it. Perhaps this is some twisted new evolution on dogfighting. I will send along the info if I can find it.

There are some genuinely sick people out there. I hope the vets will be able to take care of this poor guy and get those out before some kind of terrible infection sets in.

It’s TOO EASY to acquire a dog (and then do whatever the hell you want to/with it). So, since we can’t adequately vet the procurers, the only solution remains LONG, STIFF, HARSH prison sentences.
The cruel part is that they TRUST us innately, and crap like this is the thanks they get. Just sickening.

This torture is so despicable that it feels like the perpetrator could be a serial killer in training. Anecdotal evidence and statistics have indicated they begin their heinous crimes against animals. I hope the person who did this is identified and prosecuted soon to save the rest of society. Hopefully, this poor dog will find a loving home.

This is just about the most horrifying thing I’ve heard in a long time.

If the person is capable of doing that, what else are they capable of.

Ban the breed?! Why punish the dog for something human monsters are doing?! That makes no sense whatsoever. I have two pit bulls and they are awesome dogs – best breed EVER!
