She aims at dog, but kills her husband

Police in Jackson, Mississippi, say a woman took aim at a pit bull puppy she says was threatening her children, but killed her husband instead.

According to an Associated Press story, some witnesses told police that the pit bull, named Cocaine, had lunged at a group of children on Friday. Others said the dog was not attacking. In any event, Betty Walker got her gun and fired twice, hitting the dog once in the leg and her husband once in the chest.

Robert Walker, 53, was killed. The pit bull, 8 months old, survived and was taken in by animal control officials.

Jackson police spokeswoman Colendula Green says the death of Walker appears to have been accidental, but that a Hinds County grand jury will decide whether Mrs. Walker should face any charges.

The owners of the dog could face charges as well, police said.

*SIGH* … I don’t even know what to say here. Some people should NOT have guns, pit bulls, or be let out in public unsupervised. Geeze! Sounds like the puppy was playing, as puppies do & the woman w/ the gun totally lost her freakin mind because the puppy was a pit bull. She was trying to protect the kids from “danger” by firing a gun into a street full of kids & her husband??? Hello???Grrrr…makes my head hurt! Husband is dead & puppy will probably get the needle because the woman is a phsyco. *sigh*

There was a earlier news story where a man’s skull was accidentally broken after his friend tried to kill his dog with a sledge hammer and struck him instead. Lots of animal cruelty cases would go unreported except for events like these.

It is just awful for people to express in words what and how they feel about incidents that occur and they do not have the entire story. News media, radio, and internet can ruin a persons life more than what’s runied already. I know this couple and what’s being said about the incident is totally not true. Get a life!

The entire Walker family are sincere, humble and the kindest people one could ever have the privilage of knowing. Mean-spirit, unkind, evil are not the words that describe this lovely family. Anyone that believes so, does not know the Walkers. It’s heartbreaking, but this was a tragic accident that claimed the life of an outstanding human being.
