Dog who bit news anchor is headed home
Max, the Argentine mastiff who was impounded last week after biting a Denver television news anchor on the face, is headed home and won’t face any serious consequences.
Denver environmental health spokeswoman Meghan Hughes said Thursday the dog will go home this weekend after completing a 10-day mandatory quarantine, the Associated Press reported.
Kyle Dyer of KUSA-TV received 70 stitches after she was bitten in the face by the 85-pound dog while doing a live in-studio interview with the dog’s owner and a firefighter who had rescued the dog from an icy pond the day before.
Hughes says the dog’s owner, Michael Robinson, was cited with failure to have his dog on a leash. He’s due in court Feb. 29.

I think the charges for the leash infraction were for the episode that landed the dog in the river in the first place. He was definitely off leash when he took off to chase the coyote. I fault the news anchor for her total lack of dog skills which led to her sticking her face where it didn’t belong and paid the price. That would have happened no matter how strongly he was holding the collar.

My dog has bitten me 4 different times exactly like this. I owned dogs for over 15 years & only one has acted this way. It does happen again!!! Owner be careful.

I wonder if someone at studio told him to take the leash off. I would really hope he wasn’t dumb enough to transport the dog to the studio without one. If he was that dumb, that’s sad. However, even if the dog had had a leash on, the owner was holding it by the collar, and the leash would not have done anything to prevent the dog from lunging. Whoever decided that the owner needed to be punished somehow was really being a jerk. I’m still hoping the news anchor will admit she screwed up.
