Video: Police shoot dog in Omaha
A police officer’s fatal shooting of a citizen’s dog on a sidewalk in Omaha three weeks ago was captured on a neighbor’s security camera — and aired this week by a local news station.
Grainy as it is, the video shows officers stopping the man, who they described as drunk and defiant. One officer takes him down; the other shoots the dog he was walking.
In their report, the two officers, named Schuster and Clement, say the “suspect’s dog became aggressive, growled at officers, and showed its teeth before being shot and killed.”
Police were searching for an armed suspect when the Oct. 7 incident took place. They said Chris Schulte, who lives in the area and was walking with his dog, Teela, in the direction of the search area, refused their orders to stop.
Schulte admitted “I was just walking on,” but said the dog never behaved aggressively.
Tim Wagner told Channel 6 News he watched the incident from inside his home on his night vision security camera.
“The dog didn’t stand a chance,” Wagner said. “The dog did nothing aggressive. I’ve lived next to this dog two and a half years and it’s one of the best dogs.”
Teela belonged to his Schulte’s aunt, Michelle Meadows.
Meadows said, “It was very shocking. I would think they would maybe taser her or something, if they thought she was being aggressive, but I don’t think she was.”
Schulte was arrested and charged with obstructing police and resisting arrest.
“The Omaha Police Department is aware of the incident and Chief Schmaderer has authorized an Internal Investigation into the matter,” a police spokesman said.

Yet another innocent dog gunned down by a COP for what amounts to no good reason. Of course, the internal investigation will result in yet another white wash. And the Police wonder why no one respects them any more. Here’s one reason. FIRE THE COP!!!

I find it so appalling that police think that everyone and everything is a threat to them…citizens dont get a break when a police dog shows its teeth, and those are trained dogs, if we shot a police dog because it came towards us we would be in jail, even if the dog was just protecting it’s owner. Police are more gun happy then the criminals! It is a horribly sad state!

Ok so they are going to do an Internal Investigation…BIG DEAL!!!!!! What about the dog? Investigate all you want, it wont bring back the dog they shot!!! They murdered a living creature and because it is a dog…NOTHING will be done!!!!!! The police officers who did this…should be ashamed of themselves, badges taken, jail time given and the list goes on and on. RIP Teela, poor girl!!!!

just last week my neighbor shot my dog 3 times and killed him in my own front yard because he was afraid of the dog. this has to end. it is so heartbreaking

If a cop has a triple digit IQ,he/she is turned away from their Academy(s).Why would the cops want someone with a brain,no! they want someone that can be trained to Kill,Lie,Steal,Rob,when told to,and the cop`s wife,children,and families are proud of them.I sure would like to meet their families,and old class mates..I sure I would laugh while listening to them speak of their son/daughter/father/mother..ha ha It would be soooo obvious that the cops have conditioned their entire family.What kind of women would marry such a person?

We all need to support Tim Schulte in this! It’s obvious he had a right to be in that neighborhood, it’s where he lived!!!
The officers could’ve handled the matter peacefully without discharging a weapon. All they had to do was cut him off from the front and escort Schulte out of the investigation area.
How does firing off a round help the investigation of the so called armed suspect in the area? The officer was an idiot for discharging his weapon!!!!
There was no need to make an arrest nor to kill an innocent animal. The officer who shot the dog is a sociopath who should not be on the force at all unless he’s written parking tickets downtown and has no gun!!!
The Omaha Police Department is no better than the Stasi, they think they can subjugate the tax payers paying their salary. This needs to come to an end.
I demand that the Omaha police respect citizens and stop treating them like subhumans.

If they press charges, take it to a Jury. You have a solid case. Bring as much media attention to this as possible.
