@KateH – You assessment of how the can got around the dog’s neck sounds more than a little logical, but “Scumbag” is far too nice a word for the sicko that did this to her.
We need to develop an Empathy test to be administered to every child at an early age, and some MANDATORY course of treatment needs to be administered to those that fail before they do harm to some innocent being, either animal or human. Perhaps a decent “Parenting” course or two should be taught at the high school level. It is my belief that these monsters are created and not simply born that way.

The part about thinking that the dog may have put the can over her own head is ridiculous. Who takes both the bottom and top off a can and then leaves where a dog could find it? And since the dog’s head (from the eyes back behind the ears) was too big to let the can come off, it didn’t get pushed over the head without help – human help. A person shoved that can over the dog’s head. That person is a scumbag.

That is so good to hear! It would have been criminal to have put him down- adopting them out together would be the happiest of endings.

According to the Animal Allies of Texas, Joshua, who stood guard over Olivia has gone to a foster home! He was in grave danger of being put down in the pound because they have so many dogs and so little space.
